Mix topics before the test
Students often practise one type of question repeatedly and become good at that narrow pattern. Tests are harder because several topics are mixed together and the student has to decide which method applies.
Near the end of preparation, combine different units or question types so the student practises recognition as well as calculation.

Keep an error list
A useful study tool is a short list of mistakes that have already cost marks. Examples might include forgetting restrictions, losing a negative sign, using degrees instead of radians, or stopping before the final interpretation.

Use short sessions across several days
Math benefits from spacing. Three shorter sessions across a week usually create stronger recall than one long session the night before a test.
Spaced practice also reveals what the student actually remembers after time has passed. That is useful information before the assessment.
Practise under realistic conditions
Before an important test or exam, the student should solve at least some questions without notes, without immediate hints, and with a reasonable time limit.
The goal is not to create pressure. It is to make the real assessment feel familiar and to identify whether the remaining problem is knowledge, speed, or decision making.
